Hoover’s practice employs a range of digital, biological, and traditional artistic media to explore technology and its history reflecting upon the manner in which it structures our society and shapes us as individuals.
The Atlas of Networks is a series of cyanotypes that explore a diverse range of objects and their implied networks, examining their structures and effects in both a philosophical and technical sense. Hoover creates the cyanotypes by playing with photographic techniques which combine exposure to UV light, negatives, washing and treatment to reveal and fix the image. The creative process can be seen in the image with brushstrokes, scratches, and variations in colour, which provide a richness and warmth to each piece.
