Brain/Cloud, (With Seascape and Palm Tree) John Baldessari

This is a combination of imagery taken from John’s Brain/Cloud installation – part of a retrospective at the Tate Modern in London. John positions an image that could be a brain or cloud with a palm tree to play on the way we look at clouds to seek out familiar shapes. In this way he creates an image that embodies the act of creative thinking.

John Baldessari

John is widely recognised as a key figure in the conceptual art movement in the 1960's and remains one of the most influential artists of the last 40 years. He analyses everyday life and highlights how absurd the mundane can be. John has held more than 200 solo exhibitions across America and Europe and his work is housed in collections at the Tate, the Saatchi Gallery and the Broad Art Foundation.
